A Splash of Summer Color

I'm trying to revive some of my kitchen staples to add a fun splash of color.  I was left with all of these unused paint samples that I wanted to use for a fun summer project, I thought it was going to be for something outside, but I found something inside that needed a  face lift.  Don't forget 1 coat of primer, even if your paint comes with primer in it and two coats of color (I learned that the hard way, thinking I could skip the primer step).  Unfortunately, all of the samples you get from Home Depot are flat, so I also needed to spray them with a glossy sealer, so they would also wipe clean.  Just some tips if this should inspire you! I definitely need to learn about wax sealers, if you have used them, please comment and give me your tips! 


 
 
 
 
Yes, it might look a little like Easter, but with my tired linoleum counter tops that I am going to have to wait to replace, I needed something a little fun!

Toddler and Preschool Co-op's where Families Blossom

I believe that socializing your child as early on as possible is the best gift you can give them. This means more than play dates and siblings. I chose to take my children to a co-op when they were only toddlers (before preschool age).  I don't know that most toddler parents know that this option exists.  My son started at 17 months. My daughter started at 24 months and most parents I feel don't look for preschools until their kids are closer to age 3.  This was great because it gave me parenting skills along with skills to manage interactions among other young children and strengthened my comfort level and confidence in being with other kids.  It gave my children the experience of what is acceptable play, encouraged independence and confidence in their abilities.  In short, they blossomed, or actually, we collectively blossomed. 4-H Teaches Life Skills

4-H isn't just for raising livestock. I was in  4-H  when I was a kid from the age of nine all the way up until 15 and I should've stayed in longer. Yet, contrary to popular belief, I never raised any livestock. COMMUNITY MEETINGS I did learn how to participate and a formal meeting. Roberts rules and all… As a parent, having children in 4-H also learning the skills, can be painful to watch, but what a valuable skill it is to give them the confidence to participate in community meetings in the future. To know they bring their opinion to the table and have a confidence to speak in public. Just this year when beach junior guards was threatened to be canceled my daughter stood up at the city Council meeting and asked them to keep the program in place. Without 4-H, I don't know if she would've been confident enough to take that podium and speak in front of that room full of people.
