Where I've Been and Where I Am Going

I'm from Minnesota, but California raised. California is still where I call home. I am married and have two kids a girl and a boy both teenagers. We became home owners 10 years ago and have the never ending task of  home improvement projects which I absolutely love so please share your design ideas.  I love self help, journaling, organizing, creating, adventures, gardening, revamping and beautifying the space that I dwell in and that surrounds me and others.  I love making gifts.  Connecting with my community is important to me. My parents all live close and nurturing those relationships with my family and friends are important to me.  I love food and making it and sharing it. I recently joined a community choir.  I believe in life long learning and am always up for taking a class or having an experience over more stuff.  I love to travel and experience new places. I just joined the local Dahlia Club with my mom, and COVID really made me realize my love for having color in the garden and all things flowers. Follow along with me in this journey we call life.

Professionally, I worked for 9 long years at a bank and worked my way up to Project Manager, I have stuck with numbers since leaving the bank and worked from home while my children were little and not yet in school.  My husband is a contractor, he builds solar systems for people.  I help him run our family business PerryBuilt Construction, and work for a financial planning business as well.

I started out blogging a few years ago and then stopped.  I think I didn't know really where I wanted it to go.  My father encouraged me to write more and share with the world my crafty projects.  And I am passionate about so much more....  Did I have to have a specific direction, other people asked me if I wanted to be a writer, where I wanted this to go?  I was overwhelmed by not having all the answers.  I was afraid of negative criticism.  And now, I am blogging again so that I may share what I create, whatever that may be.  If I can inspire just one person I will have achieved my goal.  I am writing for fun.

I believe that socializing your child as early on as possible is the best gift you can give them. This means more than play dates and siblings. I chose to take my children to a co-op when they were only toddlers (before preschool age).  I don't know that most toddler parents know that this option exists.  My son started at 17 months. My daughter started at 24 months and most parents I feel don't look for preschools until their kids are closer to age 3.  This was great because it gave me parenting skills along with skills to manage interactions among other young children and strengthened my comfort level and confidence in being with other kids.  It gave my children the experience of what is acceptable play, encouraged independence and confidence in their abilities.  In short, they blossomed, or actually, we collectively blossomed. Best Picture Hanging Tips I Have Found

The first few pictures I hung in my house, I used the help of my handy dandy talented contractor husband who, has all the right tools and does math easily in his head to hang pictures at the right height and can easily match the height or divide up the space perfectly. Having two kids, the project got interrupted, of course. But, there is something about moving, I don't feel quite settled until I see my artwork or families and friends faces on the walls surrounding me. It's how I mark my territory, or something. So, if you walked into my home, you would know my style, and immediately what I love. And, what I love, which as you will see in the next few pictures are my kids! My husband did complain that we need either different people on our walls and or more artwork. I agree, we spent a pretty penny on getting professional pictures taken of our kids as infants and that time was really the last time I updated what was in my frames. New Years, Letting Go of the Past so you can Embrace the Future

Do you have a favorite New Years tradition ?  I was asked by my parents if we wanted them to take the kids overnight for New Years.  I really think that New Years is a time to be together and declined the invitation.  I love talking about our favorite things from the past year that we might want to continue or do again in the year to come and sharing plans of things we want to learn or experience. Reflect On The Past It's a wonderful thing to pause and reflect on the passing of time and we don't do it often enough. Even my daughter, who is only 9, said to me, that this year went by so fast.  Maybe it goes by fast when we are really busy doing things that we love.  And, as we get older, time seems to go faster and faster.  I am constantly surprised by my Time Hop App that shows pictures of the family only a few years ago and how much has changed in that short amount of time.  Pictures of my daughter from just two years ago with no front teeth.
